They were made by the nashua lock co. Nashua, NH circa 1855.

Since the nub itself is glazed, I safely assume it is a flaw that was from the manufacturing process. However, as seen in the above image there is a scuff upper right of center. These knobs seems to have come in pairs with different shaped shanks.

The third knob has a shallow gouge in the finish and it would need an epoxy fill or similar and glaze touch up for perfect finish. All three knobs are set in a cast iron shank.

This knob is of equal manufacturing condition to the above knob because even though it doesn't sport quite the swirl or contrast, it doesn't have the nub. This offer includes the original standard shaft. The first knob has a flange with a 3/4 OD and the other two have no flange and are OD.

Two still have a solid seat. It does have a nub that juts out from it's otherwise perfectly smooth and glazed surface. More importantly with this knob, is that it is the only knob that does not sit snug in it's cast iron shaft.

This is by far the most perfect specimen.
